I must admit, when I first started out…websites were all the hype. I’m not so sure anymore. Or at least…they feel like more a pain at times then they are a good thing. But…at the same time, I hear what all the gurus out there are saying and to some extend, agree with them. YOU HAVE TO MAINTAIN your OWN REAL ESTATE!
Sure, social media is great. I personally use these Fab Five:
And I guess I’m naming them in sequence to my preference. Yes…Facebook is the last. Its not because its least important or that I use it less, its just that its the modern day Zombie Lord and we’re all certainly infected. If there are still folks who wonder what its would be like if zombies were amongst us today, I’d say they were unfortunately blind! We are ALL zombies! To our tablets, smart phones, gadgets..bla bla bla and the biggest Zombie Lord is FACEBOOK! Wow.
So anyways…its fine. Could try to deny and avoid it, but trust me, sooner or later, you WILL find yourself having to sign up. And it’s ok. Just give in to it. As for the ole website. It’s great to have it..but updating, upgrading, fees, renewals…etc…seems a little tedious to young/new/low cost start ups. I’m not sure how this will change in the future and I hope it does, because it is good to ensure your audience follows you out of the social media realm, in case you find more rules & regulations being changed on these platforms, not to your liking/benefit – which they constantly do.
Its good to know you can hold your own. No, you don’t have to take on Facebook. Its not necessary. You don’t want to do that. Its just that, it would be good to have your audience reach you other than via social media sites. Many claim to want people to use their websites yet only update or interact via social media. Difficult position to be in and I myself find that happening here. But, we are taking steps to improve things. Bit by bit, step by step.
Getting there folks! Once again, watch this space.
